One mix makes 16-18 standard size cupcakes depending on wrapper size or 2 (8 inch) round chocolate cakes or 4 dozen mini cupcakes. If you want to make a 9×13 tall cake you will need 2 mixes otherwise you could make a 9×13 with one mix but it will be very short in height.
To make a tall 9×13 cake: Make 1 cake mix per instructions, add batter to prepared pan then make the 2nd cake mix per instructions, add half the batter to the same pan smoothing evenly and follow instructions to bake until done. The other half of the second cake mix batter can be used to make cupcakes following instructions for cupcakes on package to bake.
